Remember when John Travolta introduced Idina Menzel at the Academy Awards on Sunday night and accidentally called her Adele Dazeem?

Of course you remember. It was one of the highlights of the night and even spawned this amazing “John Travolta Name Generator”. (I’m Sara Ramso, in case you were curious).

Well, Mr. Travolta has finally spoken out about the name flub, and it’s actually pretty adorable.

In a statement to E! News, the actor said:

“I’ve been beating myself up all day. Then I thought…What would Idina Menzel say? She’d say, ‘Let it go, let it go!’ Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!”

God I really hope he sang that in his head as he wrote up this statement. And you know, John has a point. Yes it was hysterical, and yes it will probably live on forever, but ultimately, “the past is in the past.” Bam!

So now do yourself a favor and listen to Idina sing “Let It Go” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night. And just in case you need to see John’s “Adele Dazeem” flub one more time, enjoy!
