John Travolta spoke onstage last night at the 40th AFI Life Achievement Award honoring Shirley MacLaine, his first appearance since the scandal surrounding him broke. Travolta opted out of the red carpet at Sony Pictures in Culver City, instead heading inside for the tribute, which will premiere on TV Land Saturday, June 24th at 9pm ET/PT.
The National Enquirer (via Daily Mail) claims that Travolta had a “six-year gay affair with pilot in the eighties,” with claims coming from Travolta’s former secretary, Joan Edwards. and scorned lover, Doug Gotterba. ”Of course I knew he [Travolta] was gay,” Edwards said. ”It never bothered.”
“Doug told me right at the beginning of our relationship that he’d had a homosexual relationship with John Travolta in the 1980s,” Gotterba’s ex-boyfriend, Robert Britz told the Enquirer. This comes after a few claims from masseurs accusing Travolta of sexual advances, though one was later withdrawn.
