John Galliano issued a statement today in which he apologized for the anti-Semitic tirade that got him sacked from Dior. However, the designer simultaneously denied all claims made against him. Huh?

“I completely deny the claims made against me and have fully co-operated with the Police investigation,” the designer said, pictured in Soho on Oct. 29, 2010.

He goes on to explain that he was subjected to verbal harassment and attempted physical assault on the night in question. While not admitting to anything, Galliano did hsow some remorse.

“I must take responsibility for the circumstances in which I found myself and for allowing myself to be seen to be behaving in the worst possible light,” Galliano said. “I only have myself to blame and I know that I must face up to my own failures and that I must work hard to gain people’s understanding and compassion.”

He added that he believes in fighting prejudice.

“Anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society,” he said. “I unreservedly apologise for my behaviour in causing any offence.”

What do you think? I doubt my girl Natalie Portman is buying this.
