Joe Jackson Attends 2009 BET Awards

June 28th, 2009 // 20 Comments

Sporting a black hat, sunglasses and a dark suit, Joe Jackson, the patriarch of the Jackson family told CNN about Michael: “I wish the world had recognized him when he was living. Right now, he’s bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this.”

Jackson also told the CNN television network outside the show that there were still “a lot of concerns about what happened” in final hours of son’s life. Joe also took the opportunity to promote his new record label near the end of the interview.

This is Hollywood after all.

Why does this ‘Grieving Father’ appear not at all bothered by the heartbreaking events that have unfolded over the last couple of days ?
He seems more interested in promoting himself and smiling for the camera. By the way, completely inappropriate behavior.

Also, what does everyone think of the new rumors that perhaps MJ faked his own death and is very much alive ?

Joe Jackson is a fucking doucebag, and always will be. He doesn’t even look like he’s mourning at all. He always mooched off Michael, and he’s still doing it after his death. I hope this fucker rots in hell.

Joe Jackson is appalling and a completely disgusting human being. He takes every opportunity he gets to be in the spotlight. When spoken to about the tragic events that have taken place his response is ..”and?…”, THEN he promotes his new label, and to top it all off he says they have “lost a superstar”…I’m sorry Mr. Jackson, but I think the more appropriate response might have been “we have lost a son” and not the dollar sign that Michael was to you. It is no wonder Michael never wanted to look like you! RIP MICHAEL- YOU ARE MISSED ALREADY!

  4. Brie

I couldn’t agree more w/the above posters. Joe Jackson you nasty azz piece of shit! You should burn in hell. God Bless u Michael… at least you are at a place where your “so called” father can’t hurt u anymore, rest in peace. xo

  5. Laura

oh come on now, He did not fake his death! Thats certainly doesn’t hold one ounce of truth. Janet was a class act as always. Joe acted oddly, but people understand everyone grieves in ifferent ways. He was still his father.

I stopped watching BET years ago. The station had done considerable damage to the IMAGE of black folks worldwide promoting rap videos/culture 24/7 and general low-class culture for a buck. It was more than evident last night. As a person who grew up from the start listening to the Jackson 5,and Michael, Jermaine, and Janet as solo acts, black music, as a whole, was different in those days–and I dare say, the performers far more regal than most of these soc-alled starts. I saw some NEGRO get on on stage with a huge chain around his neck made up of the words: BIG ASS CHAIN! Also, Ving Rhames is interviwed and talks about the virtues of the “Rolling Sixties” and how gang life is misunderstood?

Anyway, I listened to Joe Jackson being interviewed “live.” I could not believe what I heard. He was promoting a record company and what he was “fixin” to do? Well, let’s be frank, everybody from BET, CNN, Time, Newsweek, and every media outlet, and two-bit hustler using dried spaghetti as a belt to hold up his/her pants will PIMP Michael Jackson’s death to the bank. Joe was shameless last night–or, perhaps, on medication. And then to involve Al Sharpton in Michael’s death is another form of BIG PIMPING. It is clear to me, now, after reading and listening to commentary over the past two days that Michael Jackson was a brother with a great deal of emotional issues–the paramount of which was: he was pimped as a child. Joe Jackson came to the BET awards last night to promote himself.

The dirtbag appeared to be more interested in promoting his record label than mourning his son..

  9. damian

    looks awfully happy to me

  10. Jeanette

Too bad it wasn’t Joe Jackson instead of Michael! I wish Michael was alive to see how many people truly care about him…then he might stop trying so hard to get everyone’s approval, he would know he already had it. Then again, if he were alive, he would have to suffer through all the horrible things people continue to say about him. I heard a guest on Larry King Live say something like, “Turn down the chatter and turn up the music”. That’s what we need to do people. Please, let Michael rest in peace. I grew up with Michael and I will miss him. May God rest your gentle soul Michael!

  11. scout

    is he celebrating something?
    monster!

  12. kathy fenway

I really wish the media would boycott Joe Jackson and not give him one more second of publicity, that would kill him for sure. I am not a huge MJ fan but his dad is a disgrace.

  13. josh

michael was his son he is very much sad about his death and he says one thing abouut his label and he gets flammed yall dwn bad. and evrry 1 says he was abusive most parents want their children to do well and spank them ot wut ev and if it wasnt for this man thered be no mj . think about that

  14. lola

wow, as the patriarch he should have
stood up and addressed the audience, but he left it up to the youngest family member. then again, maybe she was the best to do it, since we know she and Micheal were the closest. and Micheal despised his father anyway. thank god they took after their mother physically cause joe is disgusting physically and internally

  15. Anne Arkham

    What an asshole.

  16. Linda

I was appalled but not surprised by Joe Jackson and his arrogant behavior. He was never a good father to MJ in life so why would he be in death!!! I hope nothing good becomes of him or his record label,he should just crawl back into the hole he crawled out of and NEVER do another intreview or even speak the word Michael. RIP

  17. megan

    you people go to far

  18. Brandon Knowles

    You MUST be kidding me!

Joe Jackson… I can’t even describe in words what I feel about him after seeing this… I wonder how the rest of the family feels in regards to what he has done here. Janet seemed sincerely saddened and torn by his death, but Joe… he couldn’t give a flying f*ck about anything other than his “Blu-Ray Technology”–crazy, sick bastard!

  19. joy

MJ’s father will have to pay for a lifetime of bad karma. His next time around will not be easy.

We should all stay away from anything with his name on it. May his record label die an ignominious death and may he lose every cent he ever squeezed out of the son he never loved.

Maybe MJ would have been happy as a talented unknown dancing in front of his mirror. With all his fame and fortune he was a lost and unhappy soul.

RIP Michael. Enjoy the other side – away from Dad.

    Miss you already.

  20. donya
