J.K. Rowling Tells Fans to Simmer Down

July 20th, 2007 // 3 Comments

In a message posted on July 18th, J.K. Rowling addresses the rumors surrounding the last Harry Potter book, which is set to hit bookstores shortly. She writes in the diary section of her website:

We are almost there! As launch night looms, let’s all, please, ignore the misinformation popping up on the web and in the press on the plot of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I’d like to ask everyone who calls themselves a Potter fan to help preserve the secrecy of the plot for all those who are looking forward to reading the book at the same time on publication day. In a very short time you will know EVERYTHING!

That sounds like a reasonable enough of a request. But then again, I’m so behind in the times that I’ve yet to read my first Harry Potter book, even though I’m pretty sure I’d love it. So basically, I’d like everyone to just go ahead and not talk about the ending for the next five years or so, which is about how long it will take me to catch up. Thanks. Appreciate it.

    Lisa,

I was on the same page as you until I opened the first book. I knew I would like it but never thought I’d get so crazy into it. At that time only 4 books were out and I am a very slow reader (and an adult with no free time). The story is so enthralling that I read all four books in 2 weeks. It’s one of those things you just can’t and don’t want to put down. And remember that it is NOT a childrens book. JKR has said this many times. It’s a book about children… not a children’s book.

    Happy reading…. eventually!

Quite frankly, and I am not a fan of the books though the movies are ok (and yes, I can read just fine and in fact have just finished reading a really big book with no pictures at all) that if Rowling has brought all the fans along for SEVEN volumes of this crap and this kills the little phucker off she should be beaten like a drum. OK, not really “beaten” but if she kills the little bugger off she’s a selfish c*nt who should never be allowed to hold a pen again.

I’m not a Potter fan, never seen any of the movies, except for trailers, and never read any of the books. I’m still tryin’ to figure out “I Dream of Jeanie” and do that arm-crossing blink, and blink myself a million bucks.
