Jennifer Lawrence Lands ‘Hunger Games’ Lead
Practically unknown before last year’s Sundance Film Festival, Jennifer Lawrence is quickly making a rise in the ranks of stardom. Starring in Winter’s Bone, the top pick of 2010 Sundance, Lawrence plays a young girl fighting against touch terrain to keep her family in tact. The role gained Lawrence an Oscar nomination for Best actress, which is quite the feat for the 20 year old. After landing roles in other films such as X-Men and Like Crazy (this year’s Sundance winner), Jennifer has hit the jackpot. The highly coveted lead female role in the new Lionsgate trilogy Hunger Games has been awarded to the young actress over others such as True Grit’s Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Emma Roberts.
Seen here at the Miu Miu show in Paris Fashion Week, the decision for who will play the male lead is still in the air. The young studs in the running include Alex Pettyfer, Hunter Parrish (Weeds) and cutie Josh Hutcherson. The Wrap reports “Lawrence will play the role of Katniss, a girl who joins a survival contest in order to save her community. The story takes place in the future, where teenagers are chosen by lottery to compete to the death in gladiator-like spectacles.
