The duo will take to the stage at the Grammy Awards, just over 24 hours after Whitney passed away in her Beverly Hills Hilton hotel at 48.
Chaka tweeted: ‘I’m speechless…I’m in shock right now. Just pray for her and the family,’ while Jennifer – who sang at Clive Davis‘ annual pre-Grammy gala last night – has so far remained silent.
Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich said Saturday evening that plans were under way to have Jennifer Hudson sing a “respectful musical tribute” to Houston.
“It’s too fresh in everyone’s memory to do more at this time,” Ehrlich tells the Los Angeles Times, “but we would be remiss if we didn’t recognize Whitney’s remarkable contribution to music fans in general, and in particular her close ties with the Grammy telecast and her Grammy wins and nominations over the years.”
The Grammys air at 8 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.
