Meryl Streep, Jennifer Aniston, Katherine Heigl were only a few stars who gathered at Sony Studios in Culver City last night (June 7th) to honor AFI Life Achievement Award recipient Shirley MacLaine.

The black-tie affair took place on the same soundstage The Wizard Of Oz was shot, where MacLaine’s Terms of Endearment co-star Jack Nicholson, Elizabeth McGovern and Julia Roberts toasted the screen legend.  McGovern introduced a clip of MacLaine’s upcoming guest arc on Downton Abbey, in which the honoree plays Lady Grantham’s mother.

Aniston showed off her insane body and natural-looking tan in a figure-hugging Burberry gown, which featured a cut-out design on the back.  Heigl wore Monique Lhuillier, while Dakota Fanning opted for coral Gucci.

MacLaine, famous not only for her acting chops but for her belief in living multiple lives, was roasted by Bernie co-star Jack Black, who presented a spoof MacLaine being honored from prehistoric times to the Elizabethan era to colonial days, according to Entertainment Weekly.  “This is not the first lifetime-achievement award she’s won over the ages,” Black teased.

MacLaine sat a table with her Steel Magnolias co-stars, Roberts and Sally Field, along with Aniston and Streep.  MacLaine called both Field and Streep the “other half of the sky, my sustaining belief that women who speak the truth will make the world a better place.”
