I don’t know what to think of James Franco. If you, like me, think of him as the guy from the Spiderman movies who has just done other random films and is possibly a drug addict, well, we may both be wrong. Maybe he’s just an artiste? Whatever…
Franco will open his first art exhibit in New York City on June 23, entitled “The Dangerous Book Four Boys,” which includes sculpture, photography and drawing, as well as film and video and focuses on boyhood and the ‘sexual confusion’ of adolescence.
Watch James Franco as he interviews artist Marina Abramovic after the jump.
The Wall Street Journal reports that his films focus on demolition, showing burning or bullet-riddled structures like a plastic toy home or a large wooden rocket (the exhibition contains originals or replicas of these). Another work explores a romantic encounter between Star Trek characters Spock and James T. Kirk.
I’ll say it: “What the fuck?” He sounds crazy. Truly. Like absolutely bonkers. What I love though is that despite all this weird art shit he’s doing, he’s starring in the upcoming film Eat Pray Love with Julia Roberts.
So cuddle up with that version of Franco at night. Because this artsy-fartsy Franco will give you nightmares.
