James Cameron’s Decided to Try And Destroy The Basic Tenet of Christianity

February 25th, 2007 // 49 Comments

“Terminator” and “Titanic” director James Cameron is set to unveil a new documentary he shot purporting to reveal the burial site of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdelene. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna duck.

In a new documentary, Producer Cameron and his director, Simcha Jacobovici, make the starting claim that Jesus wasn’t resurrected –the cornerstone of Christian faith– and that his burial cave was discovered near Jerusalem. And, get this, Jesus sired a son with Mary Magdelene.

Let’s go back 27 years, when Israeli construction workers were gouging out the foundations for a new building in the industrial park in the Talpiyot, a Jerusalem suburb. of Jerusalem. The earth gave way, revealing a 2,000 year old cave with 10 stone caskets. Archologists were summoned, and the stone caskets carted away for examination. It took 20 years for experts to decipher the names on the ten tombs. They were: Jesua, son of Joseph, Mary, Mary, Mathew, Jofa and Judah, son of Jesua.

Seriously, kids, I’m just the messenger. Keep reading for Cameron’s plans for a press conference in NYC on Monday. With coffins. Not kidding.

Cameron and Jacobovici claim to have amassed evidence through DNA tests, archeological evidence and Biblical studies, that the 10 coffins belong to Jesus and his family.

Ever the showman, Cameron is holding a New York press conference on Monday at which he will reveal three coffins, supposedly those of Jesus of Nazareth, his mother Mary and Mary Magdalene.

Oh, THAT’S gonna go well. Jimmy, hire extra security. This ain’t the country you wanna go messing with people’s religious beliefs. I know. The Scientologists have been bugging my car. I just know it.

Well, you are right, if you don’t have the bible’s account, you have nothing to save you unless you have lived completely by the law, and the law can’t make you clean nor whole, it was just an example of how to live righteously. I know even the Muslims will hate him for this disrespectful declaration, as they respect Christ too as a prophet, and he’s gone very wrong in the brain making Christ as a earthly father, for HE is the Father of all Creation, and wouldn’t make more of Himself, once He came to rebuild and not destroy our way to Heaven. What would be the point if the blood line inheritance which began with Adam and came down through HIM as proof that HE is the Savior? Gad.

  2. joshua

this is the most ridiculous thing i’ve ever heard. this guy is going to turn to be one, big, joke. i can’t wait to see this ‘documentary.’

  3. He only forgot to tell that those names were very common in those days.
So the grave doesn’t actually have to belong to biblical Jesus

(back in the days they didn’t have alot of creativity in naming newborns. A family would have 3 mary’s and 2 jeshuas. No Sheneneh’s or Laquita’s)

  4. Ruben

lol you guys are b!tches and close minded

  5. joshua

    i’m a skeptic

but when there’s overwhelming evidence for his existence, you just go for the more sensible argument

  6. Kelly Rummelhart

Ok, here we go with the religion debate.

No one is doubting the existance of Jesus . . . yes, there is proof that this kind teacher existed. What some are skeptical about is there is no proof he is the son of god or actually came back from the dead.

The bible is not proof, I could write a book (with some other friends writing some chapters) and with a good enough following, 2000 years later, my son, could be in the same light.

Oh- and while I’m on my soapbox . .. . if God was REALLY against homosexuality wouldn’t he have put it in the “TOP 10″??? You know, next to the biggies like Don’t Kill, etc?

Oh, and if you have not seen “The Life of Brian” (Monty Python) it’s hysterical . . .. ” You have to think for yourselves” . . . crowd, “We have to think for ourselves”.

  7. Loob

My crazy uncle doesn’t believe in archaeology and says that dinosaur fossils aren’t real, merely a test of faith. He’s gonna love this. :)
I’ll let someone else tell him. Science and facts always bring out the angry tantrums.

  8. malcolm

I always think that Mary magale had a fling with jesus

  9. Loob

    Cypress said:
“I know even the Muslims will hate him for this disrespectful declaration,”

Are you saying that the Respectful thing would be to cover-up the discovery?

By the way, well said, Kelly R! :)

  10. adri

while i don’t mind others exploring what they believe, i always wonder why people lways have to put down or disprove christianity? they would never do something like this to muslims, so why to christians? and they’re just supposed to sit down and take it?

  11. Ray

Hmmm, somebody’s gonna be coming for James Cameron’s throat behind this one!!

If someone truly believes in their religion, they should welcome challenges. Their faith shouldn’t be dependent on having everyone share their beliefs, without question. Plus, this provides them with the opportunity to offer up proof to the contrary…oh, right, there is none…

  12. fart-away

James Cameron obviously worships the Devil.

  13. Elaine

BO18, there may have been no Laquitas or Shenenehs, but don’t forget the great prophets LaTisha, Deltrice and Steve.

  14. mike

his other movies weren’t enough entertainment for the rubes?

  15. Jen

BO18, what an interesting comment…sheneneh and laquita, huh? Was there some kind of a point you were lamely attempting to make?

  16. Sara

Wasn’t this already an action movie starring Antonio Banderas as Father What-A-Waste? And wasn’t the ‘archeology’ behind this debunked as forgery on 60 Minutes?

  17. PartyPants

Thank you! for defending the tenets of Christianity!! You don’t see that much these days!
God bless you. He will prove silly James Cameron wrong, too!

  18. Rhondy

Christianity is based on faith. Everything comes down to faith — not science.

  19. amanda

How could he have used dna to help prove the bodies were jesus, mary, etc? As far as I know, I can’t think of any physical relics of Jesus out there. Maybe Mary, not sure. What, did they trick him into taking a sip of water during their interrogation?

  20. spring2007

Cameron James always did strike me as a pompous, self righteous, haughty, arrogan, stupid and ugly person. Remember when he screamed in delight after his win in Titanic “dee plane, dee plane”

Well, umm, ahhh… he did scream something stupid, though I can’t quite remember what it was. It must have mattered to him at the time though.

  21. spring2007

Arrggh, I hate it when that happens. ARROGANT!!!!!!!

  22. Lauren

umm.. im confused…. how can they test DNA, when they hav nothing 2 match it 2? its not like they hav jesus’s families DNA & they r matching it to his family’s?!

im not so good with science, but i KNOW that doesnt make sense?!

if they come to the conclusion that those bodies ARE of jesus & the rest, then its obviously all bullshit anyway!

  23. Ani

I always find it funny how those who claim to be most religious are so constantly threatened by anything contrary to their beliefs. Did Jesus exist? Yes, there’s non-biblical, historical evidence. Did James Cameron find the grave of Jesus and Mary? I doubt it. I sincerely doubt that the body of the man purported to be the risen Messiah would have been left somewhere in a grave. His body’s gone, IMO. Why leave around the evidence?

As it stands, there are plenty of errors in the bible that CAN be historically proven. These are not “tests of faith” – they’re facts, people. I know religion and facts aren’t exactly the best of friends, but ignoring FACTS because of “faith” is called stupidity. Thinking the earth is 10,000 years old and that dinosaurs didn’t exist is STUPID. I mean, do any of these people actually stop and listen to the stuff they’re saying?

Oh yeah, we’re talking about religion. My bad. :)

  24. DM~~

Why would the Muslims care whether Jesus’s body was found? How would that anger them? Last I checked believing a person was a prophet didn’t translate into Son of God who assended into heaven. They will probably consider it a great find.

And for everyone who holds up the bible to be the ‘proof’, where does the Bible say that it is the ‘Breath of God’? It doesn’t. Stop drinking the cool aid people! You can believe in all that Jesus preached and still believe in what you see. You don’t have to be ingnorant to be Christian.

  25. sasha

Cameron is an abomination of a human being headed straight for hell when he dies.

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, the life. Unless you are born again, you can’t enter the kingdom of God. (Heaven.) I’m not taking any chances. I’m a believer.

    God bless everyone here.

  26. mmyers

I doubt that Jesus and Mary had a child let along an intimate relationship. In the bible, Jesus himself tells the disciples “I must be about my father’s business”. Which we take to mean that he had not time for physical, carnal pleasures, but that he had a mission. And that mission was to reconcile us back to the f ather, which he accomplished by the sheding of his blood on the cross. No more need for animal sacrifices, because Jesus was the sacrificial lamb who took away the sins of the world! Which is why his death was necessary. Anything less than this is blasphemy!

  27. NSC

Hey, Cameron is safe. Now if he were to say that Mohammad never existed that would be a different thing totally. Sure you are going to get Christians who will complain and threaten and bluster and talk nonsense. But none of them are gonna behead him.

  28. mmyers

DM: In answer to your question: 2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; 3:17: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Please keep an open mind and read the entire chapter and you will see that the Bible is “The Word of God”!

  29. -A

All I’m going to say is the “Bible” was written by the same people who thought the earth was flat. Ahem… I’d say there’s plenty of proof that it is not in fact, flat. And the day you can turn water into wine, walk on water, heal the sick with a touch…

I’d call that person a witch and have them burned at the stake.
Or a terrorist using who gassed us all with LSD gas and we’re just suffering the after effects like…religion. Now all those bible thumpers say “Bahhhhhh”

  30. Alikat

I cant wait to see this documentary. I am an open minded person

  31. anon

Some do indeed doubt the existance of Jesus. Have you not heard of the film “The God Who Wasn’t There”?? It strongly argues (proves?) he never even existed. There are plenty out there who do not believe.

  32. T-Bone

Ok, it’s like saying Mary Smith didn’t rise from the dead, because we found another grave where Mary Smith was married to John Smith and they had a son named David Smith who was Tom Smith’s uncle… WHATEVER! Those names were common back then. It means nothing. Just another trick of the devil, folks!

  33. Mavis

In this corner, James Cameron, who says Jesus is buried in Jerusalem with Mary M. and son.

In this corner, Dan Brown, who says Jesus was buried in France with same said Mary M. and daughter…Let’s get ready to rumble!

  35. Rhondy

Of course people doubt the Bible as truth. Big deal. I never cared what other people believe. I march to the beat of my own drum. Most believers, if they are honest, read things in the Bible that they don’t understand. Many things seem far-fetched. Yet in spite of that, something makes them continue to believe. That’s why I said everything comes down to faith. Faith is everything. It’s not about gathering a bunch of facts and entering into a heated debate. People who believe and accept Jesus Christ don’t do it because of facts. Usually, they have personal experiences or something supernatural that has happened in their life. Once that happens, you could gather a million scientists with plenty of their “proven” facts. It still will not sway the mind of a true believer.

  36. -Adoration

Rhondy, that is probably the most bullshit explanation of faith I have ever heard. Let’s ignore fact, science, proven things, and let’s just say Bible had some of it right…we just don’t “Understand” most of it, but we belive that it’s gods something or other…

That’s like saying smoking doesn’t give you cancer because you don’t BELIVE that it gives you cancer. Whether it IS Jesus in that grave or not…who cares? Seriously…aside from Bible thumpers and generally their opinion is worth about as much as that of a Myspace blogger, who cares?

  37. T-Bone

    Hey Adoration –

We believe and trust in what we haven’t seen. That IS the definition of faith, is it not? There’s a lot out there to discredit Christianity and there’s a lot out there to support it. Same with every religion. People choose based on instinct, faith, what has been taught to them, and what makes the most sense, but chances are good that they’re not basing it all on fact. So Rhondy isn’t being absurd.

  38. stolidog

Hmm. Jesus in a box. JT is all over it.

  39. dondadav

You know, Buddhism is great. I’m just saying.

  40. -A

Athiesm for the Win! “Dog? There is no dog?”

  41. T-Bone

Buddhism began as an offshoot of Hinduism and apparently the founder was Siddhartha Gautama. There is about as much myth and speculation about this religious founder as any other.

Personally speaking, I care about what James Cameron has to say about Christianity about as much as I care what Mel Gibson has to say about Judaism. They’re both just Hollywood directors who have an opinion about something and are looking for lots and lots of attention. They’re just men.

  42. Amanda

Ummm….right. First question. . .Where did the find Jesus’s DNA? I mean hell they could have my DNA and say that it is Jesus’s except for the fact I am a girl and all. Get a life people.

  43. Rhondy

Thanks for the support T-Bone. It’s not much different from a person who claims he has spotted a UFO. So far, we haven’t been given any actual hard proof they exist. There are photos, film clips and personal accounts, yet many people say it’s a fluke or camera trickery. But try to change the mind of the person who REALLY believes he has seen a UFO. You can’t. People just believe what they believe. Believers and nonbelievers need to be tolerant and respectful of each other.

  44. jack lester

ha ha, who is this guy. Oh wait, get behind me satan(james Cameron!! If there is no Jesus, then there is no God. In that case, I can do whatever I want and have no consequence for my actions!!! For those of you who don’t belive in Christ, or God, why are you so moral? Ever think of that. What is stopping you from doing whatever you want? Are you chickens, no, Christ is keeping you from doing it. Otherwise, you would be out there committing the crimes without care in the world. Hypocrites!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wake up people, we are warned of these kind of people in the bible, trying to break us!!! If you believe, then no man can break you! WAKKKKEEEEEE UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP. james cameron, your name doesn’t even deserve capitalization.

  45. Adoration

Jack I don’t know if You know, but more wars (and all those lovely war crimes) have been commited in the name of religion than all the other wars combined. Moral because of God and Jesus?…rrrrrrrrighttttttttt.

  46. Rhondy

I believe I read somewhere that Cameron’s ex-wife, Linda Hamilton, is now a Christian. When they divorced, she made the comment that he was the most unhappy, unsatisfied man she knew. I got that feeling when he made “Titanic.” It seemed like the people he worked with (actors, producers, etc) were a little frightened of him. When he won all those Oscars that year, no one acted jubilant about it, like they just were for Martin Scorsese. Cameron is known to be a perfectionist and difficult to work with in Hollywood. He’s a genius at what he does, but with his reputation as a taskmaster, I don’t think a lot of actors are anxious to be directed by him.

  47. T-Bone

    Adoration -

What man does in the name of God is not always what God wants — that’s for sure. But some wars are worth the fight (ie; fighting Nazi Germany while they were in the process of wiping out Jews altogether).

The greatest sin (in my opinion of course) is man’s arrogance. To humble oneself before God and ask for help and understanding is anything but arrogant.

  48. -Adoration

So if we go by what you say. Then it is arrogant to assume God is against gays. That Stem Cell research is a sin, and Abortion is bad. Because we don’t know for sure if that’s what She wants, but it’s what Man thinks God wants. Right?

  49. T-Bone

    Adoration -

Some things are spelled out very clearly in The Bible. Other things are not so clear. What’s arrogant to me is that people judge sins according to what THEY don’t do. In other words, the adulterer thinks the homosexual is the worst, the greedy person thinks the adulterer or the homosexual is the worst, the homosexual thinks that the cruel, ruthless person is the worst, the murderer thinks the child molester is worst, the gossiper thinks the greedy person is the worst, the greedy person thinks the vain person is the worst and so on and so on… If there’s one thing Jesus was clear about, it was that we’re all sinners in some way and that only God can read a person’s heart.
