It’s not looking good for Paula Deen, the butter queen, right about now.
As I’m sure you all know, Deen has been under some extreme scrutiny ever since her racial controversy.
In news today, Target dropped her as a client stating, “We made a decision to phase out the Paula Deen merchandise in our stores as well as on Target.com. Once the merchandise is sold out, we will not be replenishing inventory.”
QVC has decided to also make some temporary decisions as to what their plans are with their allotment of Paula Deen merchandise. The major television shopping station has decided to put their relationship with Deen on hold for the time being until solidifying any future plans.
In a letter to his customers, QVC CEO, Mike George wrote, “We have talked with Paula and her team extensively over the last several days, and together we have considered what is best for our customers, for Paula, and for QVC. For now, we have decided to take a pause.”
He went on saying, “Paula won’t be appearing on any upcoming broadcasts and we will phase out her product assortment on our online sales channels over the next few months. We all think it’s important, at the moment, for Paula to concentrate on responding to the allegations against her and on her path forward.”
Deen issued out a letter to her QVC customers as well saying, “As you know, I have some important things to work on right now, both personally and professionally. And so we’ve agreed that it’s best for me to step back from QVC and focus on setting things right. I am truly sorry and assure you I will work hard to earn your forgiveness.”
Don’t start feeling too bad for Ms. butter queen now, her cookbook sales have nearly doubled since all these allegations surfaced. It’s pretty obvious that her fans love her regardless…
