Imagine That: Kanye’s Abortion Tweet Gets A Lot Of Attention

February 25th, 2011 // 3 Comments

As if we don’t come to expect Kanye West to talk about some wacky, out-there, typically taboo subjects, especially on his Twitter feed. Last night he was spotted at the Bulls game in Chicago.

Well, he broached the hot topic of abortion and said, “an abortion can cost a ballin’ n—-s up to 50gs maybe a 100. Gold diggin’ b—-es be getting pregnant on purpose. #STRAPUP my n—-s!”

Then a little while later said, “It ain’t happen to me but I know people.” I mean, I don’t think women get pregnant to get a rich guy to pay for their abortion. Usually they get pregnant to get child support from a rich guy so they don’t have to work.

Many reacted of course – giving West exactly what he wants – and Lily Allen wrote, “ [N]ever has a tweet put me in such a bad mood. This is wrong on so many levels.”

But he’s not the only person taking heat over abortion. Justin Bieber was quoted in Rolling Stone, “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad [referring to abortion in the case of rape], but everything happens for a reason. I don’t know how that would be a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”

I think I get what he’s saying: There are women out there who will sleep with affluent, famous men in hopes that they get pregnant, and these men—who do not want children, or children outside of their established “relationship”—will give these women thousands of dollars to terminate a pregnancy and keep their mouths shut. And he’s telling other men to use protection if they don’t want to find themselves forking over hush-money to a potential gold-digger.

As always, a comment or tweet being taken the wrong way. There are a lot of woman who will find an affluent man, PRETEND to be pregnant, and then reap the money for an “abortion” that isn’t needed and keep the money for themselves. That was merely the statement Kanye incorrectly tried to make. Not once did he say something negative in order to offend any one. Oh, and I’m not a fan of Kanye so I grit my teeth as I write this bc otherwise, he’s scum.
