If Mary Were Into Couture

More style inventions from Paris grace the runway for the French Fashion Week. Jean Paul Gaultier’s creations were inspired by Madonna and I am not talking about the former cone-wearing Madge. His models floated down the catwalk in aesthetic elements that have become synonymous with the mother of Jesus. Dresses were soft and even silky in some cases. The message was that of calmning peace that had a slight pious touch as the ladies had tear drops painted on their faces and wore a solemn expression.

But let’s not forget that this is Gaultier. The silk dress had a slightly naughty aspect to it with the traditional nun’s wimple (that thing they wear on their heads). Corset backs that appeared as models turned also amped up the heat on the runway. High heels were even present on some of the Mary replicas.
