Somerhalder is hoping for the role of Christian Grey and is now reaching out to others about it, states E! News. “@BretEastonEllis -Id so love to be ChristianGrey w/you&Angelina Jolie. Ive only waited 10 years to do a movie w/u.Im grown up now-no worries,” Somerhalder posted on Twitter to the writer of American Psycho.
As for Bret Easton Ellis‘ choice for the role…
“I want Alex Pettyfer for Christian Grey but I know he’ll never do it,” Ellis tweeted.
He went on to discuss the possibility of Ian Somerhalder, who starred in the Ellis-scripted 2002 dark comedy Rules of Attraction, being cast as Christian.
Ellis initially seemed to suggest that he wasn’t keen on Somerhalder as a choice, tweeting: “Rereading Fifty Shades of Grey: it’s hard for me to think of Ian Somerhalder as Christian G because I’ve known him personally for so long.”
But he later relented, saying: “Okay, okay: I’m seeing Christian G in Fifty Shades of Grey as Ian Somerhalder but Paul Denton (Somerhalder’s character) in The Rules of Attraction keeps haunting me.
“I know Ian Somerhalder and how kinky he can be and yes, he’s probably Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey, and he will go all-out for it.”
Ellis went on to seemingly suggest that he is ready to approach Somerhalder regarding the project.
“I’ll call Ian tomorrow for Fifty Shades of Grey…I get it, I get it…” he tweeted, later adding: “I’ll contact Ian today and our teams will approach the studio.”
