Now, before we continue, please know that he means this in the nicest way possible.

Ian Somerhalder was chatting with Digital Spy when he revealed that he’s not too excited about The Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals. The latter will also air on the CW and focuses on the Mikaelson siblings played by Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Claire Holt.

Ian said of the show, “I’m excited for Julie [Plec], and for Joseph and all my people, but I’m a selfish actor – I’m not a producer on the show, I’m not a writer. My only concern is Damon, and my show.”

Ian continued, “Now, they’re going to be taking these characters that mean so much to our show. I’m insanely happy for everyone, but I’m not thrilled. Not that I mind sharing, I just don’t want to lose all these amazing actors on our show.” Well, at least he’s honest about it!

You know, I think The Vampire Diaries is going to be just fine, and if anything then they can do cross over stuff! Ian can be all up on The Originals while the siblings come back to Vampire Diaries. I am all about this.

So this only means there will be double the awesome bloopers. What are your thoughts on Ian’s comments? Think he and the Vampire folks have nothing to worry about? Sound off in the comments!
