I just want you all to imagine Hugh Jackman, in a suit saying the words, “Bond, James Bond.” It’s fantastic, right? And it almost happened! According to US Weekly, Hugh turned down the chance to play the iconic character in 2006′s Casino Royale. Apparently, he just wasn’t interested at the time.
Hugh talks about the chance saying, “I got a call from my agent saying, ‘There is some possible interest in you for Bond. Are you interested?’ At the time, I wasn’t. I was about to shoot X-Men 2 and Wolverine had become this thing in my life. I didn’t want to be doing two such iconic characters at once.” I guess that makes sense.
Plus, I think the world can deal with Wolverine singing and dancing on a Broadway stage, but James Bond might be a bit too much for them to handle. You can soon catch Hugh in his one man Broadway show, Hugh Jackman on Broadway. Here’s to hoping he doesn’t have to pee himself on this stage.
What do you guys think of Hugh Jackman as James Bond? Think he would have been great? Sucked? More excited to see him sing as Jean Valjean in the musical version of Les Miserables or on Broadway? Check out the pics from his Broadway photo call in the gallery then tell us your thoughts in the comments.
