Katie Holmes was spotted out for a coffee run yesterday and looked to be picking nearly everyone’s order. Good news for her: her film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark now has a release date, August 12, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The film, a revamped version of a TV movie from 1973, was produced and co-written by Guillermo Del Toro and directed by Troy Nixey, and centers around Holmes’ character, who moves into a new home only to find out the creatures that live there want to make her one of their own.
“We’re very pleased to partner with FilmDistrict to bring Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark to U.S. audiences,” Miramax CEO Mike Lang, said in a statement, per EW. “Guillermo Del Toro has crafted a true thriller that exemplifies the type of high-quality films for which Miramax is known. We are thrilled to add it to our growing library and we look forward to maximizing its U.S. theatrical and long-term potential.”
