Brookyn locals were shocked to hear the news of their former neighbor’s death yesterday. Heath Ledger and his ex-fiancee, Michelle Williams, used to live together in the area and were described as “such lovely people.” Heath, especially was described as, “very loving,” and a dedicated father. A makeshift memorial has been created by mourning fans and locals, with flowers, pictures, notes and candles just outside Heath’s Broome Street apartment in Soho, where he was found yesterday.

Although autopsy reports are “inconclusive” numerous sources are claiming that Heath’s death was most likely not a suicide and was instead accidental. An forensic expert who chatted with People magazine (and who they are quick to note is not involved in any official investigation of Heath’s death) pointed out that Heath’s pneumonia most likely not a cause. According to Michael Baden, “I would assume under the circumstances that if he’d die of pneumonia that would be clearly stated, because of concerns from the family.”

the flowers, notes and gifts are a sweet tribute by his fans for his family, partic his daughter. what a difficult time for them all.

I’m sorry Heath Ledger has passed…’tis quite sad. But I am SO tired of all these public histrionic displays of “grief” by people…especially the disgusting habit of leaving momentoes at the place of death. It’s nothing more than mental masturbation to me and a game of “my grief is better than your grief” so folks can “feel better”. Why not remember the people as they were, work to preserve the memories and then live ones life? It makes no sense to me.
    Peace
    Joel

Joel, I could not agree with you more.

    joel,

you are just jealous because you are going to die alone in your tiny apartment and noone will know until your neighbors complain about the weird smell emanating from their “freaky neighbor’s” apartment.

I still can’t believe this happened.
    It is so sad.

hmm… i don’t think joel is ‘just jealous’. he presents a coherent argument (which is more than i can say for some of the other commenters on the site). however, it’s not one that i necessarily agree with.

and remember, that no one is right or wrong here. tolerance, as usual, is the key. different people grieve in different ways. much of it is cultural. different cultures have different beliefs about death and dying, so their customs and behaviors are different from one another.

does it make them less valid? no
does it make them more valid? no
should we ALL be tolerant of others personal choices if we are not being harmed? yes

so, yes, joel has a point — which is he prefers not to grieve in the way he sees others grieving about heath ledger.

    *shrug*

whatevs. to each his own. i choose not to grieve his way OR the way some folks do by leaving momentoes at the house, etc… i grieve in my own private way, but i do respect others’ right to grieve as they wish.

so lay off the insults and putdowns for folks that are merely expressing their emotions the best way they know how.

    make love, not war.

Well, I think it’s too bad that Heath died especially considering he had a little daughter BUT he did make his choices despite having a little girl and he did have the money and options to get help.
Ya know, we all make our choices… and live and die by them.

I’m still shocked by his death. I was neither a devotee nor a detractor of his, but I was really, really looking forward to seeing “The Dark Knight”. His performance as the Joker, even in the trailers, blew me away.

If the public celebrates/mourns a celebrity, that’s fine with me…I just hope that they’re decent enough to value the people that they actually KNOW with such fervor.

  10. Oh…careful Joel…The “mourners” here at ASL are creaming themselves wallowing in the mire of their contrived guilt over this over-rated actor.

Don’t you dare cast a shade on their glory.

Oh no! Heath is dead! What will make the world turn now!?!?!?!
