Have a Socialite’s Night: Free Cheesecake

Can’t make it to NY Fashion Week? The Skin Canvas Body Art fashion show in Chicago’s got you covered, so to speak. (Complimentary admission to all pre-11:00PM arrivals.) [Link]

Details are shady, but evidently there’s a “Sexiest Man Alive” search at the Lakeshore Ramada this weekend. 100 sexy contestants will be chosen from the Lakeshore bunch to participate in a later competition… whose very exciting grand prize includes a free photo shoot and a vague amount of money. The New York City and Los Angeles weekend events are after the jump.

New York:

Ariana Huffington (Post) will give a reading Friday from her memoir “On Becoming Fearless” at Barnes and Noble Union Square. And on a much more interesting note: B&N has classified the memoir as “self help”. Hint-hint? [Link]

Before the screening of Saturday night’s “Buffy Sing a Long” at the IFC Center, audience members are invited to take part in a Buffy-themed karaoke contest with Buffy-themed prizes and more. [Link]

Meg Cabot, author of The Princess Diaries, will be signing copies of her latest novel, How to Be Popular on Sunday afternoon at Books of Wonder. Ms. Cabot seems quite unassuming, but don’t be surprised if the length of the line at this humble author’s appearance puts Ms. Huffington’s to shame. [Link]

Los Angeles:

Tickets are still available for tonight’s “Conversation” with British author Zadie Smith (“On Beauty”) at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Books not your thing? Here’s a good place to start. [Link]

The Donnas (remember them?) are headlining The Summer Strummer Festival alongside Rooney and other MySpacers at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica Saturday night. Tickets still available. (Shock heard round the world.) [Link]
