Green Celebrities Celebrate NRDC’s 20th Anniversary

April 26th, 2009 // 5 Comments

Leonardo DiCaprio has made no secret that his number one passion is (besides acting, of course) saving the environment. The Prius-driving actor stepped out to help the National Resources Defense Council celebrate its 20th Anniversary.

On a side note, the actor will soon be teaming up with Batman film director Christopher Nolan in his new project Inception. But DiCaprio claims it’s just a small part, “I think I’ll work about three days. It’ll be extraordinary, wait until you see this one. I think if I say another word he’s going to kill me!”

Another usual A-list suspect at these types of environmental events is Cameron Diaz. The actress is eagerly awaiting rewrites for the Tom Cruise romantic comedy tentatively entitled Wichita, but is keeping herself busy in the meantime with a legal comedy, Bobbie Sue. Can’t wait for her courtroom pratfalls!

It’s Michael Caine with the small part in Inception — DiCaprio is the star.

EcoUsable were one of the sponsors of the event and we are very happy celebrities like Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCario support such a great organization as the NRDC. Because they are so Eco conscious they were also one of the first people to receive one of our new stainless steel filtered water bottles… With this bottle you will never have to buy a plastic bottle of water again. You can drink any tap water, pool water, rain water, river water, and stream water. Takes out 64 contaminants including the chlorine, the heavy metals and the micro biologicals like Giardia, E Coli, and Cryptosporidium. It is for worldwide use. Its nice for people that are in a position to make a difference to really make a difference!

I would love some assistance in getting the first Green Rural Hospital in US built. The Frank Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits is going to build a green rural hospital – it will be a teaching hospital and it will also have a Diabetics Wellness Center to teach families of Diabetics how to eat and take care of themselves.

The really exciting news is their plan for a 3 acre organic garden – produce to be used to feed the patients, as well as have low income families be able to work in the gardens in exchange for produce!

The small community of Willits has raised several million dollars – now we are looking to those outside the community to help us raise the remaining funds!
