There were two things that did not surprise me at the GLAAD Awards this year:
1. Fox’s hit-show ‘Glee’ received top honors, with special recognition going to actress Jane Lynch, who recently became engaged to her long-time partner; and actor Chris Colfer, who plays the outspoken gay soprano… and future prom king *’Glee’ spoiler* hehe.
2. Johnny Weir‘s red carpet outfit. I will always look forward to what he wears. His possible future book? Eh, not so much.
Other notable honors went to Drew Barrymore who received the Vanguard Award, which honors efforts to increase visibility and understanding of the gay community. Barrymore thanked her inspirations: gay colleagues, including her agent, lawyer, doctor, stylists and one of her dogs, according to NPR. (This is why we love Drew. Comedic timing = genius)
Comedian-actress Wanda Sykes, Logo’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and Tom Ford‘s “A Single Man” also received recognition. And Adam Lambert and his talented tongue performed.
