I watch Girls on HBO, and like everyone else, I’m on the fence about this dumpier (some use “grittier”) version of Sex and The City.
While I find most of the dialogue funny (especially the scene between Hannah (show creator and star Lena Dunham) and her ex-boyfriend, (played by Andrew Rannells), I’m not sure that I actually like it.
I spoke to a co-worker after Sunday’s episode, and kind of agreed with his review of the series. ”I don’t care about any of the characters, because they aren’t likable,” he said. ”While I don’t think you need likable characters to make a good show, it’s not interesting.” However, he added, “the show’s voice is really unique, compared to what else is on television right now.”
Dunham and co-stars Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet were seen filming in Soho today (May 25th).
