Get Ready For Another Season Of ‘Downton Abbey’ (Not So Fast, America)

Daniel Hates 'Downton'
Daniel Day-Lewis is not a fan of the British hit.
Downton Abbey held a press conference at the Mayfair Hotel in London today, drawing the likes of Lily James and Michelle Dockery (too cool for school as they beelined it right into the building), while Elizabeth McGovern and Laura Carmichael were gracious enough to pose for photos outside the hotel.

I don’t know how they do it, but the Downton makeup artists have managed yet again to ug-ify Carmichael for season four stills.  Is it a lack of concealer?  Is it a prosthetic nose?  How do they do it?!

Anyhoo, BuzzFeed got  some good goss out of executive producer Gareth Neame, who nearly gave away the farm in his interview.

Fear not, Lady Mary and Lady Edith still don’t like each other, despite suffering a monumental loss in season three.

“The way I see Edith and Mary is that they love one another but they don’t always like each other and they both harbor a bitterness of what they did to one another in Series 1,” Neame explained.  “They are so oddly similar in that sisterly way. They are both stubborn and think they are right and know exactly what the other one is thinking and call them on it when they are being self-interested and have an ability to publicly humiliate the other in a room by saying, ‘She actually means this.’ I think that won’t change.”

And for those of you who think that Tom Branson (Allan Leach) and Lady Mary will get frisky as a result of their spouses dying, get your mind out of the gutter.

“It was so inappropriate that they would get together, but I love that the fans speculate as much as we do about where it’s going,” Dockery said about the rumor.  “I just think it would be a bit weird; it’s my sister’s husband!”

Per usual, season four of Downton Abbey premieres next month in the UK.  For patient Americans with no access to the interweb, season four airs on PBS January 5th, 2014.
