Gerard Butler looked happy and healthy at the premiere of Chasing Mavericks last night at The Grove in Los Angeles. The Scottish actor checked into a pain-management program after suffering an injury while filming, and opened up to Men’s Journal about his person timeout.
“When you hear the word rehab, you think, ‘He’s a mess, he’s f–ked up.’ But I’m glad I did it. I’ve made a s–tload of wrong decisions in my life. But I know I’ve made some right ones as well.
“I was actually taking a minimal amount [of pills] when I went in,” Butler recalls. “It was more about becoming a mental warrior and not letting pain bother you. The [instructor] would say, ‘I don’t want to hear about your f–king MRIs or your f–king X-rays…Let’s learn how to say to the pain, ‘F–k you.’”
She’s amazing,” Butler told E! News. “She’s such a joy to work with. You have to be patient to work with me and she’s patient. Her performance was incredible. Her comedy, her humanity, her warmth and just her talent. She’s a great girl.”
“I know Justin,” he added. “He’s a good dude. He’s a great guy. Great guy and she’s an exceptional woman. I’m very happy for her.”
