George Clooney’s ‘Up In The Air’: NBR Best Picture

The New York-Based National Board of Review has spoken.

 Up in the Air, starring George Clooney, was deemed by the organization to be Best Picture of 2009. Directed by Juno director, Jason Reitman, the film also snagged the prize of best actor for Clooney–a title George shares with Morgan Freeman, who co-shares the prize for his performance as Nelson Mandela in Invictus. Aww, his mother will be proud.

In addition, Twilight star, Anna Kendrick, was awarded the prize of best supporting actress and the film also took home the award for best adapted screenplay. Go Anna!

Shia LaBeouf’s girlfriend Carey Mulligan was named Best Actress for her performance in An Education. While Woody Harrelson was named best supporting actor for his performance as a soldier charged with notifying families of their loved ones’ death in The Messenger.

The group gave breakthrough performance awards to Jeremy Renner for The Hurt Locker and Gabourey Sidibe for Precious.
