George Michael Announces Split From Partner, Pays Tribute To Amy Winehouse [VIDEO]

George Michael is having one hell of year. We’ll get to the crux of the horrible year in a minute, but George just added one big thing. He announced that he and long-term partner Kenny Goss have separated after first getting together in 1996. That is a long time! According to MailOnline, George said the two haven’t been together for about 2 years.

The rest of George’s year has also been a difficult one. Back in September he was arrested and sentenced to 8 weeks in prison for driving while high. Then, to top it all off, he didn’t even get to be a judge for The X Factor, after Simon Cowell showed interest in him. You know that would have revitalized his career. It would have been epic.

As George kicks of his new tour he is also remembering those fantastic artists that we’ve lost, most notably Amy Winehouse. George said to the crowds, “In 30 years of making music, I’ve never been in as much awe of anyone who has come along on the British scene. The fact that we won’t be hearing any more from her is beyond words.” He then paid tribute to the late star with a performance of “Love Is A Losing Game” while photos of Amy projected in the back ground. You can check out a video of the performance after the jump.

Well you know what George, we’ve got “Faith” that everything will begin to work itself out for you once again. I mean, you had yourself a sold out gig, so let’s hope that continues! Check out the gallery for photos of George arriving at the venue and don’t forget the video after the jump.
