George Clooney went on The Late Show With David Letterman last night to shoot the breeze and talk about that party house he keeps in Lake Como, Italy. Nevermind that The Ides Of March opens tomorrow, there are stories to tell!
Clooney told one story about Walter Cronkite, the late legendary news anchor who vacationed at Clooney’s home. Cronkite, who was 90 at the time, asked Clooney if they should dress up for dinner. “Of course, we don’t, and I said, ‘Yes’ and there’s about 15 of us,” Clooney explained. “So he came out in a navy jacket and captain’s hat and we were all in robes at the table. He said something that I’m actually not allowed to repeat on television.”
“And while he did we all ran upstairs, changed and put on suits,” George continued. “He came out in long shorts and walked by us and was like, ‘B******s’” George recalled. “And he jumped in the lake.”
Methinks Letterman was jonesin’ for an invite during that story.
