The year was 2006. Kate Middleton was just 13 months out of university and dating Prince William. She had (and has maintained) a teensy-tiny waist and showed it off in a BCBG Max Azaria gown at the Boodles Boxing Ball in London.
The fringe Catherine is currently sporting made its first big appearance at this charity event.
The only reason people are falling over themselves now is because once upon a time, they didn’t pay much mind to the slight alteration in her hair do.
Middleton was a fixture at the Boodles Boxing Ball, an annual charity boxing match held to raise money for various foundations over the years. The event, attended by many a London blue blood, started with a simpler concept in 2002.
“It put the wheels in motion for the Boodles Boxing Ball, the first of which took place in 2006,” Boodles director James Amos wrote on the jeweler’s site. ”We were honoured that Prince William and Kate Middleton could join us and, as a result, the event made front-page news. We haven’t looked back since.”
Middleton attended the ball again in 2008 wearing a pink Issa London gown (sans fringe). Her last appearance at the London society do was in 2009, where she wore another Issa London gown, this time grey.
PS-Props to @WWKD_Official for calling this out via Twitter. My thoughts exactly, sister.
