It’s the end of the ogre franchise as Shrek Forever After premiered last night at the opening of the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival. It was the first animated or 3D film to open the festival.

Cameron Diaz put her Bad Teacher legs away for the night and arrived in an elegant black Lanvin side zipper knee length dress, pulled back hair, long earrings, and nude strappy pointed heels. Kelly Bensimon covered up a bit too in not quite as classy an outfit.

Antonio Banderas and his wife Melanie Griffith kept it casual, a quality Banderas says helped create the successful tone for the Shrek movies. “We are absolutely not conditioned to say the lines in a specific way, but they allow us to improvise a lot,” he said at the premiere. “I know that is not the method used in all animated movies.”

Mike Myers dressed up and down wit ha sharp suit paired with New Balance sneakers. Meyers who voices the green ogre said ‘This Shrek experience…has been quality from start to finish. I will miss the character.”
