For Fergie, being on the set of Nine was both humbling and nerve-wracking. The Skinny reports that the singer felt like a “rookie” among the likes of Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, Daniel Day-Lewis, Dame Judi Dench, Marion Cotillard and Sofia Loren.
“‘Well, of course it’s intimidating, but luckily for me it was a singing
role, so I felt very excited,’ she said. ‘As far as being in everyone’s
presence, I was just in awe. I was the rookie, just there doing my job
to the best of my ability. I wasn’t trying to show my peacock feathers
- I was there to learn. I was like a sponge, taking it all in.’”
Fergie had to gain seventeen pounds to play Italian prostitute Saraghina. During lunch she packed on the calories while the other actresses ate like, um, actresses. Burgers, fries, enchiladas. Normal people food.
Rob Marshall (Chicago) directed this musical about a famous film director’s attempt to find harmony, both personally and professionally, through relationships with the many women in his life. Click here to view the trailer. Great cast, good stuff. Opens everywhere December 25th.
