Well there goes the neighborhood! Quite literally in fact. Just a few days ago it was announced that this upcoming season of Desperate Housewives would be the last. There’s no denying that show had a great run for seven seasons, and the eighth and final one is sure to be fantastic as well.
While audience members are sure to move on quickly, it will probably be a tad bit harder for cast members like Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross. TV Line met up with Felicity at the TCA cocktail reception and she opened up about the end of the show. “I did that thing where when you hear big news, you kind of distance yourself from it. I was with my friend Sarah Paulson, and she kept going, ‘How are you doing? Are you alright?’ I went home … and I cried at the kitchen table with [husband] Bill [Macy].”
The best is that Felcity heard the news through the gossip grapevine from co-star Maria. “I guess I was the one who let Flicka know, which I didn’t realize! I texted her about coming [to the ABC party], while Eva [Longoria] was on her way to Spain.” Eva Longoria was apparently especially hard to track down, and the waterworks started for her as well.
Brenda Strong, the voice of narrator Alice, was the happy the show was going out on top, “I’m glad that we get to go out feeling great, that we won’t wither and die on the vine but do what Lost did,” Strong offered. “It was so beautiful the way ABC celebrated Lost and its series finale. I hope that’s how it’s going to be for us.” What are your thoughts on the cancellation? Will you miss the show? Discuss it in the comments!
