Fashion Fix: Alber Elbaz Pinned, Proper, and Could Kick Karl’s Ass

January 30th, 2007 // 5 Comments

Since 2001, the world of Lanvin has been just a little bit brighter. And this year’s only continued to prosper under the control of Alber Elbaz. Fashion Watch quotes the owner of Lanvin, Shaw-Lan Wang, as being thrilled with Alber and singing his praises by calling him “the true successor to Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.” I can just see Karl hanging his head as the words come out of Shaw-Lan’s mouth and Lindsay Lohan in the background urging Lagerfeld to throw down his cut-off gloves and challenge Alber to a duel.

This past Thursday, Elbaz was “pinned” as the recipient of France’s esteemed Chavelier de la Légion d’Honneur. Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, France’s Minister of Culture, happily presented Alber with his honor at the gilded reception room overlooking the Palais Royale. Representing the oldest fashion house, he follows a line of designers such as Valentino and Odile Gilbert in receiving the honor.

Grinning ear to ear after being pinned, Elbaz merely said, “I’m a citizen of the world of women”.

I believe that means I am one happy little ‘mo with the world in my hands.

here here! i love lanvin. i cant afford it but i ogle it! karl lagerfeld is so overly pretentious. some of his clothes are darling, but his persona completely negates any talent.

Ugh I couldn’t agree more. Lagerfeld has turned the house of Chanel on its head- making it the antithesis of everything coco believed in. He’s a misogynist who makes women look absolutley ridiculous- would have been a better successor to elsa schiaparelli!
