‘Fantastic Four’ World Premiere

Another weekend, another big sequel opening. “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” debuts this weekend trying to take the box office crown away from “Ocean’s Thirteen,” which it will probably do. However, it better not suck as bad as the first one, otherwise, we’ll have a dud on our hands. The stars assure us that this is a better film than the first “Fantastic Four.”

“Fantastic Four” star Jessica Alba says this movie is much more action packed, edgier, and it’s much more competitive, like co-star Ioan Gruffudd has been saying with the other movies in this genre. The fans will certainly not be disappointed and it appeals to a more hip, younger audience.

Co-star Chris Evans says, “I think the most important thing is to me about pace. I think in the first film it was an origin film. I think a lot of time was given to establish these characters and how we got these powers and coming to terms with our comfort level in the roles of super-heroes.”

Co-star Michael Chicklis says, “We are right into the thick of it. We don’t have to lay a track down on this one.”

Julian McMahon, who returns as Dr. Doom, says, “I like playing the evil guy. No I like, this whole business is a playground in a way if you’re lucky enough to get an opportunity to play and playing close to me I guess has not always been the favorable thing for me.”

Nice try, but I’m not convinced.

I like how they’re all talking about this summer-popcorn movie like it’s the next Citizen Kane.
