Exclusive: Socialite Life Chats With ‘Hit The Floor’ Actor McKinley Freeman
Read it all in our exclusive interview!
McKinley Freeman: My cast mates and that I get to play pretend for a living. Best thing in the world.
Socialite Life: We’ve seen Derek’s game on the show, how’s your game in real life?
McKinley: I can handle my own on the court haha. I played basketball in college and having the chance to play again has been great. It’s like riding a bike when I get out there…I love basketball.
Socialite Life: You’re well acquainted with soaps from Days of our Lives to General Hospital, do you have a favorite that you still keep up with?
McKinley: Haha no, I don’t. I’m grateful for the chance to have worked on those shows, but I don’t have one I’m particularly invested in. I’d say General Hospital is pretty close to me because of the friendship I’ve formed over the years with Mark Teschner; he’s a great guy.
Socialite Life: What’s one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?
McKinley: That I have an MBA in Marketing and Management Information Systems, and a Bachelor degree of Finance.
Socialite Life: What is your dream role? The one role that you’ve always wanted to play.
McKinley: The idea of dream roles is pretty romantic, but to have the chance to be someone in any story is something that I’ll never take for granted.
Socialite Life: If there’s one person in Hollywood you feel like you wanna knock some sense into, who would it be? What would you say to them?
McKinley: I would just say aspiring actors in general. I’d simply say that tomorrow could be the day, so don’t give up. Be encouraged. Stay positive. Everything will work itself out. The world is big enough for all of dreams to come true.
Socialite Life: Who is your celebrity crush?
McKinley: My default answer has been Zoe Saldana, then I figured I’d better change my answer before she thinks I’m stalking her lol. I think Minka Kelly is beautiful and talented, as is Viola Davis.
Socialite Life: If you weren’t acting what would you be doing with your life?
McKinley: I don’t know, but whatever it is, I’d be doing it passionately, and that’s really all I can ask for.
