Just over a year ago, the talented newcomer Richard Gerst shot the gorgeous Nick Ayler for DNA magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive issue and it became one of DNA‘s top selling issues ever recorded. Part of the successful formula was Ayler’s fresh Hollywood-actor appeal and Gerst’s willingness to take his homo-sensual photography vibe out onto the streets of New York in broad daylight.
But the PR effects – although positive – were a bit limiting -in that they both wanted to “reach higher” than the genre. Gerst waited for the right opportunity in order to . . . as he puts it: “flex some creative muscle”.
They have delivered. They have just released a beach editorial collaboration shot in East Hampton, New York, with alternating pages of dune paths and skyline complimenting Ayler’s form in Gerst’s best figurative work to date. You can catch it in the new cover story for Pin Up Boys Vol. 2.
