It’s almost gametime, everyone. We have two weeks until the royal wedding, which means we’re all ears when it comes to anything and everything monarchy-related.
Last week we showed you some cleverly captioned pictures from Kate Middleton For The Win. Recently I was able to catch up with the creator, Anne Clark and ask her a few questions about her work. Clark studies sketch comedy writing and improv performance at Upright Citizen’s Brigade in New York City (Amy Poehler is a vet), and found a useful way to channel all of that royal family interest into something we use to wile away our peasant days. I declare that Dame Clark (I just knighted her) is only beginning. Her material is witty and entertaining, and we can’t wait to see what she does with Kate’s offspring.

SL: How did you come up with the captions?
AC: I typically look around for interesting photos and then ask myself “If all I really had to do all day was look awesome and drink champagne, what would I say/complain about?”
SL: How long have you followed the courtship of Prince William and Kate Middleton?
AC: I just got into it when they got engaged, actually. Like a lot of teenagers I had a huge crush on the young William, but I didn’t know much about Kate until a few months ago. I think I like her even more!
SL: Which caption is a personal favorite of yours?
AC: I think my favorite is “You live in a studio? Are you a painter?” Because I do live in a studio, and no, I’m not.
SL: Why do you think the upcoming nuptails captivate so many of us? Why do we find royalty so fascinating?
AC: I think it’s the grandeur and elegance of it all. The way the royals are so public and elegant and yet so mysterious – it’s really pretty magical. Also, Kate is just so ridiculously good looking and sweet it’s really hard not to love her.
SL: What are your plans for the big day?
AC: I live in New York City, and my plan right now is to be up bright and early to watch the nuptials live and hopefully do some tweeting. I’m really looking forward to it!
SL: Do you think Prince Wills and Kate will go the distance?
AC: I do! Someone pointed out to me recently that they’re really just a couple of kids who went to college together, lived together for a bit, and are now almost 30 and getting married. That’s actually pretty normal. And I think Kate’s already a princess for the most part, anyway.
