Emma Thompson Gets A Hollywood Star, Deals With Mild Depression

Emma Thompson received a star on Hollywood’s Walk Of Fame on August 6th, and to celebrate she had a pint of beer at the nearby bar Pig N’ Whistle.

The 51 year old actress has been dealing with mild depression lately and admits that working in the industry can be daunting.

“I find the job I do emotionally very demanding. I suffer
from occasional mild depression, which I think is a very common
thing — it’s fantastically common in my country and probably in
yours, too — and it’s a very much hidden thing people don’t talk
about. I think it should be discussed.”

The presentation of the star comes two weeks before the release of her second Nanny McPhee installment on August 20th. The star plans to take a break after its release.

“Next year, I’m going to take a sabbatical,” Thompson
revealed.

“I’m not going to fund raise or perform or travel,
except in pursuit of new vistas with my family. I’ve been meaning
to do this for a long, long time, but it’s been like putting the
brakes on a large ship because there is so much going on.”
