This is the bit of news royal watchers have been waiting for every since the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got hitched on April 29th, 2011. Her Royal Highness is expecting the couple’s first child, and yours truly is – naturally – so friggin’ excited.
St. James’s Palace confirmed that the poor thing is suffering from a bout of Hyperemesis Gravidarum, a very acute morning sickness, which requires supplementary hydration and nutrients.
Royal reporter Richard Palmer tweeted that Catherine was at her parents’ house in Bucklebury when she was taken by car to King Edward VII hospital in Central London. Prince William was at the hospital with her.
Catherine has had to cancel three upcoming engagements because she’ll be in hospital.
I spoke to a self-proclaimed expert on morning sickness who goes by the name of my mother, and she was huffing and puffing. *Mum had terrible morning sickness with me and and my sisters, to the point where her doctor threatened hospitalization if she didn’t gain weight.
Mum’s verdict: “I think it’s a girl.”
This will pass, and then we’ll get a bundle of joy to giggle at who will wear his/her “Daddy’s Little Co-Pilot” onesie and nosh on Farley’s Rusks. If the past couple of years are any indication, Catherine will be a wonderful mum to the little whipper snapper. It goes without saying how great a dad William will be.
Prince Harry will make one hell of an uncle.
*Mum had three girls.
