Catherine, Duchesss of Cambridge made her very first public speech today (March 19th) at The Treehouse Children’s Hospice, part of East Anglia Children’s Hospice in Ipswich, England.  The Duchess, EACH’s royal patrol, was visibly nervous upon delivering the speech, but did a bang-up job her first go-round.

“I am only sorry that William can’t be here today; he would love it here,” Catherine said.  “A view of his – that I share – is that through teamwork, so much can be achieved. What you have all achieved here is extraordinary. You as a community have built the Treehouse; a group of people who have made every effort to support and help each other.

Catherine wore a $220 Reiss dress, straight from her own closet, which mother Carole Middleton wore to Royal Ascot in 2010, according to the Telegraph.

Royal aides told the Daily Mail that Catherine had written the speech herself. “I find doing speeches nerve wracking,” Catherine told someone at a reception after.
