DJ AM Sues

December 24th, 2008 // 6 Comments

DJ AM, making like fellow plane crash survivor Travis Barker, has filed a lawsuit against…pretty much everyone involved in the September plane crash in South Carolina that they were in that killed four other people.

Here he is at the Sprint Champion’s Celebration at Marquee in NYC earlier this month.

AM is suing the estates of the dead pilot and co-pilot (ouch), and the charter company, Learjet, and Goodyear Tire.

DJ and Travis escaped the crash by sliding down the wing of the wrecked plane while ON FIRE. Both suffered severe burns. He’s suing for pain and suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement and loss of earnings..

The lawsuit contends that “the pilots were either poorly trained and/or failed to follow their
training” and the plane was “defective, not fit for its intended purposes and unreasonably dangerous.”

What a douche. He’s suing the families of the guys who died while he survived?! Isn’t he the one who technically hired them (it being a private plane and whatnot)?

So, if I’m in a car with a friend. The friend’s driving and then dies while I live. Does that mean I can sue her family because she was a “poorly trained driver” and the car company because it was probably “defective, not fit for its intended purposes and unreasonably dangerous.” Assshat.

Despite this, Happy Holidays one and all –

Unfortunately, the option of lawsuits has to be there and accessed on occasion. Otherwise, companies like Goodyear et al would pay even less attention to such tiresome details as safety. There’s nothing like the spectre of a successful lawsuit to make sure these companies do the right thing.
Suing the families of the deceased pilots is probably going overboard but they likely had insurance that he’s going after. He did suffer due to this and does deserve compensation though.

Serious douchebag! Yes, the pilots should have taken off with a blown tire… but they didn’t, and they died. Now you want their money because you managed to live? I could see requiring on the needed compensation if you were unable to pay your medical bills, but come on. Planes crash. It happens. Read some statistics and stop being so damn greedy!

If the pilot took off with a blown tyre then how were they going to land?

Sueing the insurance company of the deceased pilots? WhY???? That is just greedy. He’s trying to make a buck off of the deceased deaths. And any insurance money that would’ve gone to the families will go to him. Sick. Shame on him & Travis.
