World-renowned photographer Mario Testino was honored last night at a gala to benefit El Museo del Barrio, a Latin American cultural institution in New York. Kate Winslet, Anna Wintour and Candice Swanepoel were at the event to celebrate Testino’s thirty-year career as a fashion photographer. Testino, who took the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s engagement portraits, also shot Prince William’s mother. In fact, Testino considers the late Diana, Princess of Wales his favorite subject. According to the Telegraph, Testino said it was shooting the royal beauty that took his career “to another level.”
Upon accepting a silver Asprey tray signed by some of Testino’s most famous admirers, the famous photog said, “When I started, people told me I wouldn’t make it. Many people didn’t believe I would get to be where I am today. Something tells me there is something I did right.”
Also in attendance at the gala: Allegra Beck Versace, Carolyn Murphy, Chrissy Teigan, Courtney Love, Crystal Renn, Donatella Versace, John Legend, Josh Hartnett and Tamara Mellon.
