Demi Lovato Co-Hosts ‘The View’ In Disneyland, Defends Miley Cyrus And What She Is Doing
Demi Lovato and her blue hair co-hosted The View yesterday in Disneyland! The singer met Pluto and signed some autographs for fans in-between takes of filming the talk show!
Speaking of Disney, the 21-year-old former Disney star sat with Katie Kuric for a candid interview about how she shed her kiddie image. She also had a lot to say about her gal pal Miley Cyrus, except Demi jokingly said, “I didn’t twerk, I just went to rehab.”
A lot of artists take that route of shock value, and that’s totally fine and that’s great, but I think she has such an incredible voice that’s overshadowed by some of the things that she’s doing. It’s her journey. She’s having fun; she’s being who she is. But everyone is on their different journeys right now and she’s doing that and she’s having fun and power to her.
The “Neon Lights” singer has know Miley for years, and admits that it’s not easy being taken seriously as an adult artist after you have had so much success as a child star. She continued:
I think that the world needs to get over the fact that she was ‘Hannah Montana’ when she was 16. I guess my transition was a little easier because I went straight to rehab. I didn’t twerk, I just went to rehab. It’s something nobody knows and nobody really knows who I am, and same with Selena [Gomez] and Jonas [Brothers], and everyone that has grown up in front of the public eye, and we’re adults now … we’re all in the process of doing that so go a little easy on us, America.
Demi also spoke about herself and how she is “so awesome right now.” She is busy getting ready for her tour and the release of her book, “Stay Strong,” which features a year’s worth of quotes and meditations.
