In the interview, the 26-year-old opens about the passing of Cory Monteith, what’s it like to play a gay man on TV even though he’s straight and one very crazy fan encounter.
Here are some highlights from the interview.
What’s the mood at McKinley High?
As I said on Conan, we’re picking up the pieces. Cory loved life and wanted his friends to be happy, so it’s only right that we try and start to smile again. That’s something that he would have wanted. I am just so happy that he got to touch as many lives as he did while we were all lucky enough to have him.
You’re not gay; you just play gay on TV. Do you ever feel the need to assert your heterosexuality?
No. I know who I am. I feel bad for guys who have to flex their muscles. But hey, if that’s the way to make yourself feel comfortable as a man—as long as it isn’t antagonizing anybody—go for it. I’m okay with your getting a Miata to feel like a dude; just don’t be a dick about it.
Have you ever had an encounter with a Gleek gone wild?
A guy licked my face—straight up grabbed my head and licked my face.
