Darren Criss made his Broadway debut last night (January 3rd) in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre  in New York City.  Criss replaced Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, who played the role of J. Pierrepont Finch for ten months before making his departure.  On January 24th, Nick Jonas will replace Criss until July 1st.

Criss took to his Twitter account before opening night to send a message to his fans: “So I’ve been gone from the Internet for the past two weeks- been busy getting ready and excited for my opening of ‘How To Succeed’ on B-Way!” he wrote. “So to make up for lost time, I want to share a few moments of excitement leading up to the big opening night…”

Criss told Entertainment Weekly that he wanted friends and family to wait to catch his peformance.  “Everyone’s like, ‘Oh, I gotta go to your opening night!’ ” he said. “But I’m terrified. I’m like, ‘No! See it at, like, two and a half weeks.’ Theater is a -living creature. It takes a while to break in, like a new pair of shoes.”

Following a successful opening night, Criss was joined by co-stars Beau Bridges, Rose Hemingway and Christopher Hanke at Sardi’s restaurant.
