Darren Aronofsky Has High Hopes For ‘The Wolverine’ With Hugh Jackman
Darren Aronofsky gave new details on his upcoming re-imagining of the Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie, simply titled The Wolverine. The Black Swan director is hoping to revive the franchise, setting the film in Japan and using his wealth of film knowledge to make the film, er, not suck so much.
“There’s all the samurai elements that are really exciting,” he said. “I’m a big fan of Japanese movies, we’re going to try to have a good time.”
And yes, it will be better than the last one, he promised: “Chris McQuarrie wrote a great screenplay. We’re trying to get it into a slightly better place but he’s working on it, and I think it’ll be easy to fix. Chris is an amazing writer and I’m very lucky to have him as a collaborator.”
Jackman, pictured working out in NYC on Wednesday, also has said that the revamp will be more like a rehaul for the better under the visionary director. Hey, it worked for Batman!
