Last night, Empire Magazine held its annual Jameson Empire Awards at London’s Grosvenor Hotel.  Skyfall scored Best Film, with director Sam Mendes picking up Best Director, as well as an Empire Inspiration award.

Martin Freeman won Best Actor for his role in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, while Les MiserablesSamantha Barks earned herself Best Female Newcomer.

On the red carpet, director Danny Boyle told Empire Magazine that if Her Majesty wasn’t available for the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony skit (jumping out of a helicopter and what not), then they were going to call on Helen Mirren.

Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt presented at the ceremony in suit from Vivienne Westwood’s red label.

Daniel Radcliffe won the Empire Hero award, which he graciously accepted with a darling speech.

“It’s always embarrassing to see myself, and thanks for the awws at the beginning,” Radcliffe said.  “Empire’s always been unpatronising of Potter and myself, so thanks for that.”
