Daniel Radcliffe got into character yesterday (March 26th) on the New York City set of Kill Your Darlings, a film that draws together the writers and poets of the beat generation following a murder in 1944.  Radcliffe plays gay poet Allen Ginsberg alongside Elizabeth Olsen as Edie Parker and Jack Huston as Jack Kerouac.

Radcliffe has said that he welcomes the opportunity to play a gay character.  In 2007, he told the Daily Star, “I’d never play a gay character just for the sake of it.  But if the script was good and it was a good character, it wouldn’t bother me. Playing characters exploring their sexuality is a challenge.”

And recently, the former Harry Potter star admitted to Attitude Magazine his man crush.  “There is that moment in your late teens when you ask yourself the question: ‘Am I?’ but I wasn’t,” Radcliffe explained.  “Well, this year I have a talent crush on Ryan Gosling. I think he’s fantastic and, ahem, you know he’d be nice afterwards. He seems smart. If I was gay, I would go for a smart man.”

Oh, Mr. Potter.
