When it comes to the shocking death of beloved Glee star, Cory Monteith, the bad news keeps coming in.
On Tuesday, June 16, just two days after his death, Monteith was cremated in Vancouver followed by a private viewing ceremony with his family and girlfriend, Lea Michele. The one person not in attendance was Cory’s father, Joe Monteith, who told TMZ that he was unaware of Cory’s cremation and that he was “totally devastated” that he was not there.
“I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very, very much,” Joe told TMZ. “I’m saddened at the fact that I couldn’t have been there to see my son before he was cremated.”
Joe split from Cory’s mother, Ann Monteith, which seems like a huge reason why Cory reverted to drugs. Also, how awful is it that his mother decided not to let Cory’s father say his last goodbye to his son?
Yesterday, it was confirmed by British Columbia Coroners Service that the cause of death was “mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol.”
As for Cory’s heroin use, Joe told TMZ he was “shocked”. I guess that just shows how involved he was in Cory’s life.
Rest in Peace, Cory.
