Colin Farrell Offered Lead Role In ‘Total Recall’ Remake

If you haven’t seen the original Total Recall, based on the Philip K. Dick short story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale, let me give you the rundown. It starred the Governator himself, Arnold Shwartzenegger, as well as a young and beautiful Sharon Stone, and banked on incredible special effects (i.e. Academy Award), sex, violence, and…well…more sex.

Len Wiseman is set to direct a remake of the 80s flick, and although it was rumored that Tom Hardy or Michael Fassbender could have snatched the role, it looks as if Colin Farrell, pictured in London this past Saturday, has been formally offered the part. The newly single actor starred alongside Tom Cruise in Minority Report, another film based on a Philip K. Dick story.

I know many think that Colin Farrell is a has-been, but I’ve got to admit, I’m a Farrell-junky. He’s got some serious acting chops, and starred in two critically acclaimed films last year: Crazy Heart and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Plus, I saw him at the Tribeca Film Festival last May, and let me tell you—he is ten times sexier in person. Who cares if he hasn’t had any recent Blockbuster success?… He’s still a step up from Arnold Schwartzenegger, if you ask me.
