If you’re like me, you’re probably saying what the hell are the NRJ Music Awards? Well, according to Wikipedia, the NRJ Music Awards were created in 2000 by the radio station NRJ in partnership with the television network TF1 takes place every year in mid-January at Cannes (PACA, France) as the opening of MIDEM (MarchÃ© international de l’Ã©dition musicale). So there you have it.
American singer Aguilera was named Best International Female Artist, while her Back To Basics picked up Best Album.
Diam’s was awarded the Best French Female Artist and her track LA Boulette was named Best French Song.
Evanescence, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake also won awards but were not in Cannes to collect them.
But while most French artists who played at the ceremony mimed to their music, US artists including Aguilera, Nelly Furtado, Fergie, Sean Paul and Gwen Stefani all performed live.
